Frequently asked questions

Do the participants need previous knowledge about music?

No. We work without sheet music. All activities are suitable for musical amateurs. After all, it’s about leadership and not about musical details.

How do the musicians feel when they are conducted by amateurs?

Our musicians are indeed challenged. Because they play, observe and give feedback at a high level. They really like this change from their daily orchestral routine. For once, they can play exactly as they are being conducted and also give feedback!

What do you do if a participant does not want to take part?

We respect that, of course. But it has only happened a few times since we started in 2001. Much more often we hear sentences like “I was skeptical, but now I’m thrilled!”

Are you coming with the whole orchestra?

No. To save on travel costs, we work with local professional ensembles ranging from string quartets to symphony orchestras. Keynotes can also take place without musicians.

How much space do you need for the Leadership Orchestra?

The guideline is 3 square meters per person for training sessions and 2 square meters per person for interactive keynotes. Our musicians are happy to have a separate checkroom 😉
